CE Marking
The CE marking is a certification mark that indicates conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards for products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA). CE stands for Conformité Européene, which means European conformity in French.
The CE marking is mandatory for many products that are sold within the EEA. This includes products in various industries such as electronics, machinery, medical devices, toys, and construction products. The CE marking indicates that the product complies with the essential requirements of relevant EU directives, regulations, or harmonized standards.
To obtain the CE marking, manufacturers must carry out a conformity assessment and create a technical file documenting the conformity of the product. The conformity assessment process varies depending on the product and the applicable regulations. In some cases, the involvement of a third-party conformity assessment body may be required.
The CE marking does not indicate that a product has been approved by the European Union, but rather that it complies with applicable European legislation. The marking can only be used by manufacturers who have gone through the required conformity assessment process and have obtained a declaration of conformity.
